How it works
Three steps, in the order you would do them anyway.
Extract what you know
Start with what is already in your head: the things you explain over and over, the mistakes you learned from, the order you would teach them in if someone asked.
Organize it into a graph
Break it into mini topics and connect the ones that depend on each other. The result is a knowledge graph: a map of the subject, not a table of contents.
Publish it in the shape that fits
The same graph can be published as a single lesson, a course, or a mini degree, a longer structured sequence of lessons. You choose the shape; the structure underneath stays the same.
Why a knowledge graph instead of a fixed syllabus
A syllabus is one path through a subject. Understanding does not work that way: some ideas depend on others, some stand alone, and every learner arrives knowing different things.
Mapping a subject as a graph lets learners move through the mini topics the way understanding actually connects, and lets you reuse the same map for a lesson, a course, or a mini degree.

InstructOS is meant to be open in the plain sense: few barriers, kept inexpensive, and nothing standing between what you know and someone who wants to learn it.
The goal is to make sharing what you know easy enough that more people do it.
Where things stand
In developmentInstructOS is in development. What exists today is the model described on this site: mapping a subject as a graph of mini topics and publishing it as a lesson, a course, or a mini degree.
What does not exist yet: the tools, a release, or a date. When that changes, this page will say so.
